The advantage of this model of entering the conversation allows you to hear others opinion and have a clear opinion of your own. As stated Nelson Mandela “ in our family reunions, I always took the speech after heard everybody opinions. It gives you the time to be heard by others”

I agree with you because every person has the right to give an opinion by hearing others.

    2) I agree that our look influence our view about arts. Some cultures identify easily the meaning of some sculptures or art paints than others. The reason for that is that their cultures might have a lot of more art paints, or storytelling.

      1. The advantages of entering the conversation are learning from others and using their point of views to enhance your writing skills, so basically what Gerald Graft and Kathy Birkenstein are saying is that entering the conversation will not give only the writers’ opinion of others but also the opinion of others from various environments or people.

In other words providing an article or thesis to indicate which larger conversation that the article or thesis is responding to.

      2. Yes, I do agree with the smart history videos, this is because as the old known saying ” a picture is worth a thousand word”Fred R. Barnard. So just by saying the quote it should tell you that based on the picture or as in the video art work, you can analyze different situations and try to understand the real meaning behind it.

Yes i agree with you but based on the artwork or picture if you have no prior story what do you do then and that comes back to the saying ” a picture is worth a thousand words because from that one art piece or picture you can tell the story based on how you see it. Just think for a second, the first person who actually made that art piece has their own opinion of actually what happened Vs what really happened.

    1. According to Gerald Graff and Kathy Birkenstein , the model of “entering the conversation” benefits us in academic writing and critical thinking because listening to others we can be able to look at things from another point of view and expressing our own ideas.

    2. Even though some people insist that art doesn’t matter in the real world , I agree with the above video that looking at artwork helps us analyze other situations and the reason is that when our eyes are trained to look at something , concentrate more to detail and also increase our communication and problem-solving skills.

    1) I believe that the advantages of this model “of entering the conversation”, helps people to analyze deeply other opinions and criticize them by agreeing/disagreeing. Giving different points of view and not only stating one opinion.

    2) Some people don’t know the power of artwork in the real world. I believe that artwork not only helps your brain to analyze what’s going on in the scene but is also a way of communication for most of the people who have been trained for specific tasks and then solve them easier.

I agree that art work is a way to communicate too because there are people who don’t know how to express themselves by talking.

    2) I agree with the smarthistory videos because when looking at art you see a story. In the video it shows how art work helps cops solve a crime because if the cop did not look he will not be able to find clues that will help solve the crime.

    2. I agree with the smarthistory video because not only is art subjective to your mind but the way you analyzed anything in the world is based off of not only your life experiences but also you culture and environment.

Kathleen Birkensten and Gerald Graff provide advice on how writers should engage in a conversation. A writer may take part in the conversation through a paper, a post on social media, or a conversation with their colleagues. It is helpful to give ourselves time to think and listen to others’ opinions if we find ourselves involved in a complex conversation. With respect, we can share our opinions with others, including those who disagree with us, after having a sense of what is going on in the conversation and having an opinion of it.

According to Gerald Graff and Kathy Birkenstein, the advantages are followed: it will help to make logical statements and let one make an impact as a writer. Using (“they” “you” or “she”) in your writing can attract the readers as they can relate to it to some extent. Agreeing and disagreeing simultaneously can help to avoid simple yes or no response and allow one to present a better argument

.
Yes, I agree with the above statement. Art can help analyze situations better, it helps us to look at things from a different perspective and give them meaning. It can also help us describe the things we see more accurately, which is a very important quality as one is aware of their surroundings, are able to identify threats and come up with solutions in complicated situation. Art can tell us how to look at the artwork as they are made from another person’s point of view, for instance the scene directed by Sherman.

I totally agree with how powerful art can be. Because for most artists, art is their way to express the pain and feelings of sadness and joy which they are unable to express in words. Consequently, art plays an important role in our lives, allowing us to understand other people’s histories and the stories behind their artwork. Additionally, people can communicate through art, regardless of their culture or beliefs.

Entering a conversation in real life and mastering the art of speech, is kind of the same thing as entering a conversation on a writing passage and master the art of writing. Both times you are responding in one way or another to an argument coming from what ”they say”. As Graff and Birknstein state in the Introduction of this book, ”to make impact as a writer you need to do more than making logical statements, you need to enter a conversation with other’s view”. That meaning that the writer should make sense on what he/her is saying.
What i think is an advantage of ”entering the conversation” is the fact of knowing already what we are going to write about. We already know the issue we are going to argument about, giving as an advantage of doing our critical thinking and going deeper step by step. We have the chance to rise controversy with our arguments and make our writing as lively as we can. Being able to know how to ”enter a conversation” makes us more of a writer, rather than just someone stating a fact but not making sense.

    1. There are many advantages of using Graff’s and Birkenstein’s method. We are the captains of our own ships. We are a sum of all of our thoughts and experiences but can also be greatly influenced by others’ beliefs. The key is to having an open mind but also sticking to our own morals. In today’s society, people are incessantly susceptible to a steady flow of opinions, advice and judgments from others about common things such as family matters, science, medicine, politics, and the latest technologies. We may agree to disagree or we may not. A debate or conversation will be quite difficult when we are dealing with different personalities. We do not live a perfect world and not everything is going to be in our favor. In addition, not many people can freely express themselves through free speech and there will always be other methods in doing so – writing, social media, music and other forms of art. We live in a strongly interconnected society where social media and advanced technology is rampant and unavoidable. It’s a never ending rat race and not everything is constant in this every changing civilization.
    2. The Smart history videos makes a whole lot of sense! Art helps us see something from a different perspective. Looking at artwork may seem monotonous but we all will greatly benefit from it because it will sharpen our observation, analytical skills that can easily translate to work setting skills. In addition, it helps us gain more patience. We all want instant gratification and not all things can be attained right away.

I do agree with the statement that art helps us with analyzing other situations. As it is stated in the video ”How art can help you analyze”, looking at a artwork would help us think of it deeper and understand the meaning behind of it. The same thing is on other situations of our life, we analyze, criticize in order to give a meaning or find a solution. Same as a doctor does with his patients, looking at the symptoms to give the diagnose, that is what we do in real life, we analyze using our senses to give our judgment. The power to look through what is shown in the surface, makes us better critical thinkers. Therefore, we end up making the right decision and the right judgement.

1.The advantages of writers using the model “entering the conversation” according to Gerald Graff and Kathleen Birkensten is that it allows writers to hear from multiple points of views as well as form there own opinion.

    2. I agree with the statement that learning to look at artwork can help us analyze other situations because art can sometimes tell a story just by looking at it and deeply analyzing it you can try and put the pieces together on what the artist is trying to portray. The same way you can do that for art you can use those analyzing skills to help in other situations.

    1. An advantage of using the model of “entering the conversation” while writing is that it brings in another perspective. Bringing in more perspectives allows for more insight and deliberation. Having more insight on a topic is good because your argument will be more informed. Another advantage of using this model is that it addresses the opposing argument in a way that makes your argument stronger.
    2. I agree that learning to look at artwork helps analyze other situations because it gives some type of context. Generally in films things like setting, plot, and characters are given; which paints a bigger picture. If you know how to look at art you can figure out what the artist was trying to portray. Analyzing art exercises your brain to look for hidden elements and connect them. It trains you to investigate and figure out what to look for.
